In Tilburg, entrepreneurs, educational institutes and the government collaborate closely on a work force that fits the market.
The city pursues a market-focused labor policy detailed in the Incentive Agenda Economy and Labor Market. The focus is on knowledge-intensive innovation, cross-overs and connections between knowledge institutes and businesses, jumpstarting innovative initiatives. Take the Starter Grant for example. Recent graduates can use this grant to gain working experience at companies in Tilburg and improve their chances on the labor market. This is good for these young talents, but certainly also for entrepreneurs since they profit from the recent graduate’s knowledge.
In order to help people with a distance from the labor market, entrepreneurs, government and educational institutes work together in the so-called Entrepreneurial Agreement. Thanks to this project, many people have found their (subsidized) place in the labor process. Other incentive programs are the Maatjesproject, Reshoring and the Stimuleringsfonds.
WSP Werkhart supports employers quickly, expertly and without charge regarding human resource management and its corresponding laws and regulations.
Tilburg is also a pre-eminent educational city. Approximately 43,000 students choose from an array of vocational and higher educational institutes. Tilburg University (recently ranked best general university at Master’s level in the Netherlands) provides academic education at an international level. There are a number of faculties, including the schools of Economics, Law, Social and Behavioral Sciences and Humanities. At Tilburg University, students are stimulated and supported as independent entrepreneurs by the Center for Entrepreneurship.
Fontys and Avans are the universities of applied sciences. There are programs in, among others, economics, law, architecture, civil engineering, technology management, arts, lifestyle studies and journalism and communication. Fontys offers a unique minor in Dance, the biggest export product in the Netherlands! The largest vocational training institutes in Tilburg are De Rooi Pannen and the Regional Training Center (Regionaal OpleidingsCentrum, ROC).
After their studies, many students start jobs with businesses in the region. Some of the study programs have been adjusted to the local business climate.
Globally operating companies such as Fuji and Tesla and Tilburg University bring an international vibe to Tilburg.
